I could be described as a “Type-A creative.” Thriving on clear direction, but knowing that the fun begins when I relinquish control.
I take a similar approach to painting. Meticulously designing colors and composition, while allowing the painting’s personality to be organically revealed.
Rich colors. Messy textures. Endless layers.
In life and in art, the journey to bringing a vision to life is more rewarding with spontaneous detours. And no two journeys are the same.
I integrate a combination of traditional and innovative painting techniques to tell stories of shared human experiences. I work primarily with acrylics and embrace the messiness and forgiving nature of palette knives, rarely touching a paintbrush.
I rely on my intuition to thoughtfully yet erratically play with colors and textures. In doing so, the subject matter begins to take shape with layers of colors peeking through, creating depth and complexity. Along with the palette knives, I experiment with unexpected materials – curlers, cling wrap, and more – to create rich texture and give personality.
.I invite viewers to embark on their own journey of interpretation and reflection.
